In order to prevent accidents involving vulnerable road users, from November 22 to 24, 2024, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Uzda District Department of Internal Affairs is holding a preventive campaign “Don’t be invisible – light up in the dark!”, aimed at preventing accidents involving vulnerable road users.
The main causes of road accidents involving vulnerable road users are ignoring traffic rules, the absence of reflective elements in the dark and drivers’ failure to give way to pedestrians at pedestrian crossings.
During the campaign, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Uzda District Department of Internal Affairs will work on the areas of high traffic accidents, as well as accident-prone sections of roads and streets in populated areas that are most at risk of hitting pedestrians and cyclists. The State Traffic Inspectorate officers will pay special attention to identifying violations by pedestrians who grossly ignore traffic rules, do not mark themselves with reflective elements at night, as well as persons who are on the roadway or near it while intoxicated. Drivers who do not give priority to pedestrians in traffic are also under control.
Dear pedestrians!
Follow the traffic rules, move on the sidewalk, pedestrian or bicycle path, and if they are absent, on the shoulder. In the absence of these road elements or the impossibility of moving on them, pedestrians are allowed to move along the edge of the roadway towards the traffic of vehicles. When driving along the edge of the roadway at night, identify yourself with reflective elements.
Dear citizens!
If you see a pedestrian near the roadway who is showing signs of intoxication and clearly poses a danger to traffic, we ask you to immediately call the 102 hotline.
